Hoya longifolia is an elegant, trailing variety with slender, dark green leaves that hang in soft arcs, giving it a clean and sculptural look. Native to the Himalayas, it grows on trees in dappled mountain light and occasionally rewards you with clusters of small, white, star-shaped flowers. It works beautifully in hanging pots or on shelves where its long vines can flow freely and add quiet movement to a room.

A few house rules...

Light

Hoya longifolia loves bright light and can handle a few hours of gentle direct sun. A sunny windowsill or bright room will keep it happiest. In lower light it will still grow, but flowering may slow down and the leaves will stay darker.

Watering

Water when the soil has almost completely dried out. Like most Hoyas, it stores water in its leaves, so it prefers infrequent, deep watering to constant moisture. Allow excess water to drain away fully and ease off in winter.

Important Info

• Slow to moderate grower indoors
• Trails up to one metre or more
• Not safe for pets
• Fun fact: Hoyas produce their flowers on the same spurs each year, so never cut them off! That’s where new blooms will appear next season.
