This is the Calathea that looks hand-decorated. Deep green leaves with pink pinstripes give it the appearance of being painted with a fine brush. It brings a touch of glamour and is often chosen as a statement accent in modern homes. Place it somewhere it can catch the eye, because those stripes are meant to be admired up close.

A few house rules...

Light

Pinstripe Calathea likes medium to bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun will fade its painted stripes. It can tolerate low light but it slows its growth. A spot with steady, filtered light works best.
Watering

• Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy
• Use filtered or rainwater if possible, as tap water can mark the leaves
• Loves humidity, so mist often or use a humidifier

• Typically reaches 60 to 90 cm tall

• The stripes on young leaves emerge a soft pink and gradually turn white as the leaf matures
