Jamaiquina is a rarer snake plant variety and it really shows. The leaves have a sleek, toned-down mottled pattern that feels a bit more refined than the usual suspects. It stands tall, looks sculptural and instantly tidies up a corner with almost no input from you. If you want something modern, minimal and not seen in everyone else’s home, this is the one.

A few house rules...

Thus plant is famously tolerant. It will live happily in low light, thrive in medium light, and power on in bright, indirect sun. Direct, harsh rays can scorch, but otherwise it’s one of the least fussy plants you’ll meet.

• Let the soil dry almost completely before watering
• Water deeply, then drain away excess
• Needs very little water in winter
• Use a free-draining, sandy mix

• Can reach 1 metre tall over time
• Not safe for pets
• Fun fact: Snake Plants store water in their leaves and can survive weeks (even months) without care
