String of Pearls is effortlessly sculptural. Its trailing strands of green beads spill elegantly over shelves or hanging pots, catching light in a way that almost feels fluid. It’s one of those rare plants that looks equally good in minimalist spaces or surrounded by other cascading plants (and it grows fast once settled!)

A few house rules...

Light

This one loves bright light and can handle a few hours of gentle direct sun, especially morning rays. A south or west facing window is perfect. In lower light it can become leggy, so keep it somewhere where it gets plenty of brightness to stay full and compact.
Watering

Treat String of Pearls more like a succulent. Water sparingly and only once the soil has completely dried out. When you do water, give it a thorough soak and let excess drain away. In winter, water even less as its plump beads store moisture for dry spells.

• Fast-growing trailing succulent
• Can trail over a metre long indoors
• Not safe for pets
• Each “pearl” has a tiny translucent line called a window, allowing sunlight to reach the inside of the leaf for photosynthesis, nature’s clever design for desert life!
